| Fishing Rod Maintenance |
Posted 8/16/2003 |
There are some simple things that you can do to extend the life of your fishing rods. Wipe off the rod from tip to butt with a clean wet paper towel. Dirty cork handles may require a clean wet cloth and more labor. With a gentle touch and persistence the cork will clean to a nearly new look. Wipe off the rod with a dry paper towel. For a longer lasting protective finish use a high quality non-abrasive paste car wax. Once the wax dries wipe off with a dry clean cloth. You will have a mirror finish that will shed water, etc. and extend the life of the rod finish. For a quick wax application spray Johnson Wax Pledge on a clean cloth and wipe down the rod surface, windings and eyes. Use a clean dry cloth to wipe off the excess and the rod will shine like new. The line from your reel will also move through the rod eyes with less resistance.
